BEACON (13 June 2008) - At around 3:45pm, Rombout Fire District was dispatched for a reported tractor-trailer on fire with a load of hay on Interstate 84 West-Bound in the area of Exit 13. Upon arrival, Rombout found a heavily involved trailer with a full load of hay on fire.

Rombout quickly transmitted numerous mutual aid for tankers to fight the fire with no near-by water source. Also around this time Engine 33-12 was assigned to the incident to report to the near-by Dutchess Mall to set-up a tanker fill site and fill tankers. Car 33-2, Chief Lahey, was assigned the role of water supply operations chief and coordinated the operation at the mall.

Upon arrival of Engine 33-12, they set up on a hydrant and continually filled a rotation of about 6 tankers for about 4 hours. Engine 33-12 pumped an estimated 50,000 gallons of water to fill tankers during the operation.
