BEACON (10 October 2008) - The Howland Cultural Center on Main Street in Beacon has been a staple in the community since the 1800s. Originally serving as the city's library, today is the headquarters to many of the city's various committees and organizations. On Friday night, the center honored Beacon's volunteer and paid firefighters for their service and dedication to the community.
The center had food, live entertainment, and a presentation on hand to honor the firefighters. About 15 of the city's firefighters attended along with the city council and about 20 members of various community groups to honor the firefighters.
The department was honored to attend and is happy to see the community appreciates our service.
