DUTCHESS JUNCTION (28 March 2009) - At about 7am, Dutchess Junction was transmitted for a structure fire at 10 Zias Drive. Engine 33-11 and Glenham Engine 43-11 were on automatic mutual aid for this assignment and responded directly to the scene. Engine 33-11 was the first arriving unit with Car 33-1 (Chief Joseph). They arrived reporting a heavily involved two family house.
On arrival, Engine 33-11 laid in almost their entire 5" supply line from Route 9D to the scene. The company used a 2 1/2" attack line and their stang gun to knock down the main body of fire in an exterior attack. An exterior attack was used due to the fire load on arrival and numerous fireworks going off in the building.
The fire is still under investigation and there was no one in the building at the time of the fire. Also during the incident, the State Police made an arrest of a motorist who drove over Engine 33-11's supply line causing it to rupture.
